I’m flattered that Anonymous Fat Girl asked me to do a guest post while she is away on vacation.
It is a post about my journey through compulsive eating/bingeing, from where I began to pretty much where I am today. If you want to check it out, you can read it here.
I also wanted to write about my appointment with the therapist on Tuesday. I told him how totally good I was feeling and that I had taken the giant leap of faith to intuitive eating, which I could have never done without his help.
We also talked about the difference between my labeling myself as being “in recovery” versus being “recovered.” As always, he put a different spin on it. He said that I should look at it like “I’ve recovered my self,” that I’ve recovered my life and it’s aspects, taking back more of what’s mine so that I can fully in this world. Is he awesome or what?
With that being said, I decided to add the word “recovering” to my blog name *shy smile* last night. Props to my husband for bringing that to my attention.
And last, but certainly not least, giving a shout out to my girl Holly who is having a Larabar giveaway. Check it out – Larabar giveaway.

Great! I agree. It’s wonderful that you’ve been able to recover yourself
And, that you’re a recovering compultsive eater!

LOVE the addition of the word recovering….and really like the spin your therapist put on it! I know several alcoholics who will say they are recovering, I think for the same reason. I think any true addiction, you have to work at all the time. But I think as time goes on, (I would hope) it gets easier with each passing day, because you get stronger.
Thank you so much for the shout out, too!

thanks, holly. i too always thought you “should” use the words “in recovery” but i have read several books now of ED’d people who say they are fully recovered. i hope at one point to say i’m “recovered”, but only time will tell.

thanks, margarita. i hope it does somehow help someone else. truly, being honest about all this is the best thing for me and i think for all fellow sufferers. not to be dorky, but i really think my tagline of “you are only as sick as your secrets” holds true.

Thanks so much again for agreeing to guest blog. It’s a story that so many over eaters can relate to (me included) and it was an honor to have you share your story on my blog.
